Colin specialises in helping organisations respond to market driven change. His diverse career includes Operations Management, Sales and Marketing, and Business Development at director level in the Manufacturing; Financial Services; Energy, Recruitment and Not for Profit sectors. He started as a design engineer living in France and Sweden, and then moved into Sales & Marketing, covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He went on to head up the successful re-engineering of NatWest’s retail banking network and to run some of the UK’s largest B2B sales forces at PowerGen and Manpower Plc. As Marketing Director for the British Heart Foundation, he was the architect of the UK’s most successful stop smoking campaign (fatty cigarette) which won over 17 major international awards and doubled cessation rates
Colin holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering; as well as an MBA (for which he received the KPMG top student award) and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Cranfield School of Management. His doctorate studied how organisations develop their brands across increasingly complex and demanding stakeholder communities. He is an Associate of both Cranfield School of Management and Henley College of Management and a Fellow at Nottingham Business School. He delivers tailored Executive Education programmes in Strategy & Governance, Marketing & Innovation; Corporate Brand & Reputation, Stakeholder Relationship Management; Culture & Leadership; and is a professional coach and mentor to a number of senior executives
In his spare time, Colin is a passionate sailor and has crossed many of the world’s oceans, including the notorious Southern Ocean (via Cape Horn). He is a keen cyclist and runner. He is married and lives in England with his wife. Together they have 3 grown-up children
